Monster.com is another site in which users can post resumes and search for a job they will hopefully love. The way in which it exemplifies Web 2.0 is through the ability to get expert advice, post on boards, search local opportunities, find job fairs to network with, etc. The reason I chose Jobster first is because it seemed to be more focused on community and networking. I think this website is a great tool, and wider known, but I am still impressed with the amount of interaction Jobster has to offer.

Jourdan brought up a good point in my last post. She wondered if people were more likely to use Monster.com over Jobster.com. I agree that Monster is more widely known. Throughout this next week I will explore what Monster has to offer and offer a compare/contrast between the two.

In my first post about Jobster I said there is a 15 day free trial period. I apologize, the trial period is for employers using the recruiting tools. The service is completely free to those looking for jobs. Sorry for the wrong information.
Blog feature of Jobster February 17, 2007

Jobster has its own blog in addition to the website. It contains a wealth of information, including many articles actually discussing Web 2.0. Tim O’Rielly is quoted in an article by Tim Kalil as describing Web 2.0 as “software that improves the more people use it.” Jobster is a perfect example of software improving and depending on the amount of users. My favorite feature of the blog, allowed the user to see who had recently viewed any article you were interested in. Just another way to connect to users with common interest.
The blog can be fund under www.jobster.blogs.com.

The first site I would like to cover is www.jobster.com. This site is a perfect example of an online community commited to helping you network with potential employers or employees if you are looking to hire. Jobster offers many services . You can post your resume, tag yourself with words that best describe yourself, upload video to you resume, and view how often your profile is viewed. But what makes this an online community is the interaction between users. Jobster creates a community in which people can chat about work and ask questions or let off steam. It also allows you to search others profiles and tag your favorites and communicate with them. If you are similiar to another potential employee the site connects you, and provide an opportunity for an exchange of information invloving similiar interests. There is a free trial for 15 days for anyone interested in trying it out.
In my next post I plan to cover the blog aspect of Jobster and how it employees the benefits of Web 2.0.
